Twitter's announcement to charge monthly fees from 'Blue Tick Accounts'

Social media platform Twitter is once again starting to charge fees from BlueTick accounts from Monday. Last month, the Twitter management had delayed the decision to charge fees from BlueTick users, who were inundated with fake accounts.

Users will now have to pay eight US dollars to avail this facility. But those using the Twitter app on Apple devices will now have to pay eleven dollars.

Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Twitter, has previously expressed his displeasure over the commission charged by Apple on app purchases in tweets.

Twitter added Blue Tick's additional features include an edit button.

Some Twitter users have been asking for the added edit feature, although some argue that if a tweet is changed after it has been widely shared, it increases the chances of misinformation spreading.

BlueTick users will now see fewer ads, have their tweets prioritized over others, and be able to post and watch longer and better quality videos, the platform says.

Previously, a blue tick was a sign of verified high-profile accounts. The blue tick symbol was provided by Twitter for free and the firm itself decided who to give the symbol to.

Evelyn Musk says it was unfair.
